Henry Forster, 1st Baron Forster


Henry William Forster, 1st Baron Forster GCMG, PC, DL was a British Conservative Party politician who served as the seventh GovernorGeneral of Australia from 1920 to 1925.

He was born at Southend Hall, Catford, then in Kent, England, the son of an Army officer. He was educated at Eton and Oxford. He was a firstclass cricketer who played for Oxford University and Hampshire, as well as for various amateur teams as a lowerorder righthanded batsman and an orthodox leftarm spin bowler. He served as president of the Marylebone Cricket Club. He was also keen on yachting and horseracing.
